LIGHT AND WARMTH

SUNLIGHT

The Trustees are delighted to announce that on week commencing 8th June a large array of solar panels will be erected on the south facing roof of the Community Centre feeding into a battery storage system. Not only will this make us self-sufficient in electricity, taking out around £3.5k per annum of our operating costs, it will yield a surplus to provide the centre with a sustainable income stream for the future.

This is all possible through the dedication of our hard working group of volunteers who have worked tirelessly over the last year to raise funds for the centre, a generous donation of £6k from the Parish Council and an award from the National Lottery of £20k received at the end of March.

Scaffolding is due to go up on the 9th June and the installation will be completed within 3 weeks with minimum disruption to neighbours or users of the Centre. The benefits will start to accrue immediately.

The Trustees would like to express their thanks to the Parish Council and the National Lottery.

WARMTH

Users of the centre will know that last summer we installed Google Nest thermostats in the Main Hall, Upper Hall, School Wrap area and the Jubilee room. Our Lemon booking system knows when a hall is booked and switches the Nest on to ensure the hall is up to the required temperature. This winter we have used less gas than previous years despite there being significantly more users of the Centre. This innovation has paid dividends as new hirers have joined us basically because our rooms are heated to match the activity taking place.

With a generous grant of £1000 from Buckby Feast we are now able to continue these improvements and install Google Nests in both the Hobro room and Stables Suit.

The Trustees would like to express their thanks to the Trustees of Buckby Feast for their support.
