A STRATEGY FOR LONG BUCKBY COMMUNITY CENTRE

OUR VISION

To provide a fit for purpose, sustainable venue for community activity in Long Buckby for the foreseeable future.

OUR MISSION

The Community Centre, owned by the Parish Council, is managed on their behalf by your Trustees, who will focus on sound governance and engagement with stakeholders of all ages, to provide sustainable facilities and activities with community appeal whilst being complimentary and supportive to other village organisations.

OUR VALUES

Working within the guidance and direction of the Charities Commission, we will operate sound governance with financial probity, whilst adhering to buildings regulations, health and safety, and equality of access.

OUR GOALS

1    To double the occupancy levels at the centre by the 2025 AGM.

2    To become financial sustainable by the 2025 AGM through a combination of business efficiency, fund raising events and  grants from appropriate funding bodies.

3    To operate at the highest level of governance

ACTION PLAN TO ACHIEVE OUR GOALS.

1 To Promote the Centre we will:-

1.1 Maintain and enhance the fabric of the centre to provide a first class  experience for our users. This will  improve it’s outside appearance, reduce excessive signage and create a soft exterior with planted pots and troughs to achieve clear and attractive branding.

1.2 Create a new logo for use on stationary, web pages, social media , signage and posters.

1.3 Build a new website to provide walk in guides to rooms and facilities, access to book and pay online, and as a communication platform both for  promotion of the centre and as a platform for our  users and other village community groups.

1.4 Create a broad social media platform, which can promote the centre by targeting  varying demographics in our community (young and old) and providing interaction with people of all ages.

1.5 Establish the Centre website as an information hub for its users groups, occasional hirers and village community groups.

This will be led by Trustee Jane Tress, supported by Trustees Hazel Durbridge and Helen Garrett. Volunteers welcome.

2    To Raise Funds for the Centre we will :-

2.1 Develop a close relationship with the Parish Council, as owners of the building, to ensure they are regularly updated of our progress and apprised in good time of any issues which involve their closer involvement and funding.

2.1 Attract a core of volunteers, who are willing to run a series of fund raising events through the year, which do not compete with events organised by our regular hirers or other community groups in the village.

2.3    Operate a project based approach to external funders led by a dedicated person ( volunteer) with the remit to identify potential funders, their timescales and calls for bids.

This will be led by Trustee Helen Garrett and supported by Trustee David Croston. Volunteers welcome.

3 To enhance our Governance we will:-

3.1 Rewrite the constitution and memorandum of articles in the next 8 months in close liaison with the Parish Council, and The Charities Commission with a view to  adoption at the 2024 AGM

3.2 Revisit and agree all policies in relation to the sound operation of the Centre, Health and Safety regulations, Employment Law, Safeguarding etc.

3.3 Review all the contracts and agreements with our hirers, and ensure there is a standardisation throughout.

3.4 Explore possibilities of offering access to the Sport Field’s car parks to evening hirers as a benefit.

This will be led by Trustee David Croston Volunteers welcome.
